If you do not receive a course confirmation email within a few minutes after registering, your registration is not complete and your appointment is not valid. Early Childhood Screening is a FREE, simple check of how your child is growing, developing and learning. State law requires children to be screened between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. The state of Minnesota requires a health and developmental screening for every child before kindergarten entry into a public school. ISD 728 Elk River School District offers this service at no cost. Screening is not a substitute for health care from your family physician, dentist, or other health care providers. EdVenture ClubCommunity Education's EdVenture Club offers childcare at ISD 728 schools for: Before/After School Care Non-School Days Inclement Weather Summer Discovery Learning Preschool Wrap-Around Care - To be eligible to attend our Discovery Learning Preschool Wrap-Around Care program, your child MUST be toilet-trained and be enrolled in the Discovery Learning Preschool program for the 2025-2026 or attending a Discovery Learning Preschool class through the Early Childhood Special Education program. Before School and After School Child care - Registration opens June 1-2nd @ 8 AM for Priority Families and June 3rd @ 8 AM for all families. Summer Care - 2026 Registration opens April 6-7th @ 8 AM for Priority Families and April 8th @ 8 AM for all families. EdVenture Club - Summer SwimAn added benefit to attending EdVenture Club–Summer is for your student to receive swim lessons at no additional cost! Students must be scheduled for childcare on all 4 days to be eligible to attend swimming lessons. Session days are Monday-Thursday for 1 week. Transportation from childcare sites to the VandenBerge pool is provided by EdVenture Club-Summer. Limited space is available. Week One: June 8-11 - Meadowvale Week Two: June 15-18 - Prairie View Week Three: June 22-25 - Zimmerman Week Four/Five: June 29-July 10: No Swim Week Six: July 13-16 - Parker Week Seven: July 20-23 - Twin Lakes Week Eight: July 27-30 - Rogers Week Nine: Aug 3-6 - Hassan, end of summer swim Swim Lesson Descriptions Level 1: Intro to Water Skills Is primarily focused on getting students comfortable with the water, basic aquatic skills and safe practices in and around water. We will focus on bobs, front and back floats, front and back glides, kicks, front crawl, elementary backstroke arms, and treading water. Student must have passed Little swimmers OR meet the following prerequisites: Water entry: rolling over, jumping to adult Water exit: stairs, ladder, or climbing out Underwater bobs 5 Front Float 5 seconds (face in the water, holding breath) Back Float 5 seconds (ears in the water) Bubbles lips above the water Bubbles lips below the water Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills The focus of this Level 2 swim class is horizontal motion. When swimmers put their faces in the water willingly, we can start teaching motion. We will focus on front and back float, front crawl, elementary backstroke, treading water, and sitting dives.Student must have passed Level 1 to participate OR meet the following prerequisites: Student must have passed Level 1 OR meet the following Prerequisites Bob underwater 10 times Front float 7 seconds Front glide Front kicks 5 yards with kickboard or barbell Front crawl (Scoops) 3 yards Back float 10 seconds Back glide Back kicks 5 yards with a kickboard or barbell Elementary backstroke arms 3 yards (using any kick) Tread water for 5 seconds using arms and kicks Front glide 2 yards rolling into a back float Back glide for 2 yards rolling into a front float Level 3: Stroke Development Level 3 introduces rhythmic breathing and builds on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 to help students achieve basic water skills. Student must have passed Level 2 OR meet the following Prerequisites: Front kicks with rhythmic breathing Front float 10 seconds Front crawl (freestyle) 7 to 10 yards Back kicks 7 to 10 yards Back float 15 seconds Elementary backstroke arms 7 to 10 yards Elementary backstroke 5 yards (with whip kick) Tread water for 10 seconds Sitting dive Level 4/5: Stroke Improvement Level 4/5 is a skill-based class focusing on helping participants refine and improve proficiency in all six swimming strokes, and builds on endurance.
